Following completion of his apprenticeship, Darryn moved into a number of roles with different companies in the Pilbara region, solidifying his skills and building experience, before spending a year working in London as a carpenter for various companies completing retail fit-outs and second fix.
On his return to Western Australia Darryn moved into the role of Co-owner and Managing Director of Boundaries WA, a business which provided a contract, supply and installation service for fencing screening and balustrade products. The company operated on a state-wide level and catered for the retail, commercial and mining sectors.
Darryn was responsible for the management of up to 75 employees and contractors, production, sales and accounts departments. Yearly sales grew from 500k – 22 million per annum over a 10-year period. During 2002, Darryn took time off to build a family home. This single-story dwelling was entered in the North-West Master Builders Awards. The house won 6 Awards in total: Country home of the year, Best design, Best roof & wall sheeting, Best Plumbing & Water Corp water-wise award. Darryn personally took out best roof carpenter for the North West Region.
Clearly demonstrating his ability to manage teams, projects and business on a larger scale, Darryn then moved to a role as Director of Boundaries Australia where he was responsible for the initial formation of this company and went on to complete commercial and mining contracts for Boundaries Australia in the North West region. In the following years, Darryn worked with a diverse range of companies within the construction sector, broadening his exposure to different types of construction environments and strengthening his skills set.
Having previously worked with Clay Foster, Darryn had no hesitation coming on board at Bears Fencing where he is now a vital member of the Bears team. Darryn has a depth of experience, not only with the provision of fencing and construction services, but also the skills required for management of larger projects. This is proving extremely valuable as Bears Fencing continues to experience solid business growth and provides services to larger scaled projects.
